Hey We Risers!! As I checked my mailbox today, I was delighted to find that my monthly Loot Crate had arrived! I've been subscribing to Loot Crate for a while now, and have always found myself loving the contents... so I thought that I might as well share the treasures with my fellow geeks so you can see for yourself!!
As I opened it up and pulled out the first thing, it was a wooden figure of the Joker. I didn't take him out of the box, because he was Loot Crate exclusive, but he came with another face, making it replacable. His arms also look posable, so if you buy the corresponding Batman figure, you can put them in mock battle poses or whatnot! It's cute and looks child-friendly, but with the replacable face, I wouldn't suggest it, since it looks like a choking hazard...
The next thing I took out of the Loot Crate was extremely awesome apron from the fictional chicken franchise "Los Pollos Hermanos" from the hit TV show, Breaking Bad. Loot Crate will often give out exclusive T-shirts, but I've never seen a full on apron from a show. It was very well made, looking exactly like the ones worn by the workers that greeted our favorite W.W as he came in through Gus' doors. It could definitely be used as a last minute cosplay or hung on a wall for display! A must-have for any Breaking Bad fan!
The next item was the biggest box within the box. Pulling out a sheet of styrofoam exposed a really awesome Venom mug. I feel like I've definitely seen these in stores, but either way, you can never have too many mugs! As I showed in the pictures below, it's a pretty big mug that forms to Venom's face. In the Loot Crate booklet, they also said that other Looters got a Carnage mug instead, but I adore Venom's recognizable profile and face, that getting a mug of him will definitely scare me into drinking more tea everyday!
Though, I have to say, that I think my favorite item in this Loot Cate is an item I almost missed. It came in a rather small box wrapped in plastic, and I almost didn't want to take it out, because it was a collectable. But, as they say, curiosity killed the cat, and I just had to see what was inside. And I have two words to describe what I found: "Hail Hydra." A collectable Hydra Pin. It's attached to your typical hard paper/cardboard backing with two clasps on the other side, and it's a very solid, very ready-for-screen-looking pin. I'm a real sucker for collector's items and this hit the nail on the head for me. As I've been watching all the new Marvel stuff coming out, this item really excited me!
As always, Loot Crate provides a collectable pin featuring this year's theme of "Villains 2". They had released another Villian's box last year, but I think this one lived up to the infamy of that last crate.
In each Loot Crate you get, you're also given a booklet that, not only shows different pictures that fans had sent in, or the contents of the boxwith a short description for each. The Loot Crate team also provides small articles that are fun to read to correspond with the monthly theme. That's one thing that I really have to give Loot Crate. They're fantastic with the themes and they always find creative, fun, and unexpected ways to fulfill the crates with items that fit the theme.
To go with the wooden Joker figure in the box, you'll notice that Loot Crate also decorates its boxes to correspond with the theme. THis not only makes it more fun, but I love using these boxes as decorative shadow boxes or shelves to put my favorite collectables in, when I start running out of regular bookshelf space. These boxes are great to reuse when sending out holiday presents, or just keeping things in. They're decorative, exciting, and usually seem to be just the right size when you need a box for something. I love keeping my Loot Crate boxes!
I absolutely LOVE Loot Crates. For at most, $13.95 (+ $6 shipping and handling), you can get one of these boxes each month, and cancel at any time (whether you don't like the theme, or whatnot). Or, to save money, you can sign up for a 3 month, 6 month, or yearly plan. I think they're worth it, especially if you have a lot of fandoms that you're in, or you just appreciate geekdom in general! From comics, to anime, to gaming, to popular, more mainstream shows, you'll find swag to fit your needs! You can sign up here! Under my referral link (http://looted.by/cHmUz), or just go onto Lootcrate.com to find out more info! It's definitely worth looking into, especially if you don't want to break the bank in buying things at conventions or whatnot.
